Colour Psychology

Throughout this project I heavily researched colour and the psychological effects that they have on us. Upon the research I found out that when exposed to the colours over long periods of time they can eventually give us certain ailments. To demonstrate this I created posters to visually communicate the numerous conditions that colours can lead us to.

The collages were created by printing on to acetate and scanning in the images digitally, layering up the images and text. Paint, ink and other materials were also used on the acetate to create different textures.
Blue

Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body. It slows human metabolism and produces a calming effect. Blue is usually used to promote products and services related to cleanliness.

Yellow

Yellow produces a warming effect, auroras cheerfulness, stimulates mental activity, and generates muscle energy. When yellow is overused it may have a disturbing effect, and can cause headaches.

Red

Psychologically red symbolises someone confident. It can also enhance human metabolism, increases respiration rate, and ratios blood pressure.

Orange

Orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. Orange represents enthusiasm, fascination, creativity, determination and attraction. It helps to restore balance to our physical energies, and to face our consequences. Orange increases the oxygen supply to the brain, produces and invigoration effect, and stimulates mental activity.
